This is an upgrade for the firewall-mounted booster kits and does not include Mounting Brackets
This is a hydroboost unit that is meant to bolt in place of common GM vacuum brake boosters for classic 1960's, 1970's, etc cars and light trucks. The hydroboost input rod is centered within the 4 mounting bolts. The mounting bolts are roughly 3.375" spacing. Please review the measurements in the pictures to confirm fitment.
On the back of the booster is a 3/8" fine thread rod. This is really great for swaps because it allows you to thread on different ends and allows for adjustability in the depth. The clevis works for many applications, but not all. You may need to do a different end for your application and you will find quite a few by searching "brake booster eyelet" on ebay or google.
These units are extremely powerful- I have quite a few miles with this exact setup on my personal 4,000 LB old Buick and it stops the car like never before! This will give you double the braking power as compared to any good working vacuum power brake system. The brakes are very aggressive but still controllable.
This requires front disc brakes at a minimum, better yet front and back disc brakes.
The hydroboost requires plumbing in to your power steering pump. The plumbing is not included. There are three ports on top of the hydro unit- a 6AN port to connect to the pump, a 6AN port to connect to steering box high pressure, and a 3/8 hose barb for a standard rubber return hose. The 6an and barb fittings are included, you need to supply everything else. It works with most any power steering pump.
This is a special built hydroboost unit. It is not from some other vehicle being modified to work as a universal part. I have these manufactured using the highest quality parts and quality control to my specs.
The master cylinder has a fairly large 1.125" bore. The larger bores makes for a great pedal feel and a pedal that does not sink to the floor. The ports are 1/2" flare and 9/19" flare. There are ports on both sides which is very convenient for plumbing brake lines in custom applications. You plug off the two you don't use with the included plugs.
You will want to run a proportioning valve that matches the brake type you have at all four corners. For disc/disc, run a PV4 valve. For disc/drum, use a PV2 valve. These are readily available online and inexpensive.
For additional valve cover clearance, these can be flipped 180 degrees. The bolt patterns on both sides are symmetrical
FAQ:
Will this fit my car?You will want to compare your booster to the pictures with measurements I have here, that will be the best way to confirm fitment.
