Pictures of 1973-1979 Original 2WD Trucks with 05+ SD Front Axle

Spring buckets for 2wd trucks come in two lift options: 4" or 7". These measurements are with oem used SD coils (although there is some variation in SD coils). 7" lifts the truck enough for the axle to clear the engine crossmember. This height looks appropriate with 37" tires.  4" lift requires notching the engine crossmember front and back. 4" lift looks appropriate with 33" tires. 4" lift buckets with 2" lift springs (Skyjacker F520 for example) works great with 35" tires.

Crossmember notching. Required of less than 7" lift, but even 7" lift can benefit from more range of motion
